A Fourth of July Celebration in Beaufort
Some weddings feel extra special to photograph because there’s already a little history behind them. Megan and Prescott’s was one of those weddings for me. I’ve known Prescott for years and had the pleasure of photographing his proposal to Megan, so getting to come back and photograph their wedding day felt like a pretty full-circle moment. I’ve also known many of their friends and family for quite some time, which made the entire day feel incredibly familiar and personal. It was such an honor to be the one behind the camera as everyone came together to celebrate them.

And there was no better person to bring their Fourth of July vision to life than Amy Lane. Amy is an incredible planner, and I knew from the start that she was going to create something unforgettable.

The morning began with the guys getting ready on Cat Island before making their way into downtown Beaufort by boat, while the girls spent the morning getting ready at the Beaufort Inn. From there, the day unfolded with plenty of time for getting ready photos, portraits, and all of those little in-between moments that make a wedding day feel like your own.

Megan and Prescott shared their first look before heading into a beautiful ceremony under a nearly cloudless Beaufort sky. It was one of those perfect Lowcountry summer days, bright, warm, and completely fitting for a Fourth of July wedding.

But they had one more little adventure planned before cocktail hour.
We made our way back down to the marina, where Keaton took us out on the boat toward the Woods Memorial Bridge. With the enormous American flag hanging from the bridge, we were able to capture a few portraits of Megan and Prescott together that felt like they belonged to the day in every possible way. Beaufort, the Fourth of July, the two of them, and a giant flag in the background. It was such an iconic moment and one I know they’ll always remember.

Then it was back to celebrate with everyone at The Tabby Place, where cocktail hour led into an incredible reception filled with red, white, and blue details, plenty of dancing, and, of course, ice cream.
The night ended exactly as it should have, with flags waving, sparklers lighting up the evening, and all of their friends and family sending Megan and Prescott off into their next chapter together.

A Fourth of July wedding in Beaufort was already going to be hard to beat, but getting to photograph it for two people I’ve known for years made this one especially meaningful to me.
