There is something extra special about engagement sessions that feel less like a photoshoot and more like just hanging out together. Sarah and Zach’s engagement session on Hilton Head Island was exactly that kind of morning.
We met at their family’s beach house where the day started slow and sweet with a stroll along the shoreline and plenty of laughs. They brought along their adorable dachshund Dobby who clearly stole the show and happily trotted beside them as we walked the beach. The light was beautiful the air was soft and the whole morning felt relaxed and easy which is always the best recipe for genuine moments.

As we walked and talked getting to know each other it quickly became clear that this session was going to be a fun one. Then came the surprise of the day. Somewhere between photos and conversation we realized we had a connection none of us knew about ahead of time. Zach’s grandfather was my English teacher in high school. That kind of small world moment stopped us all in our tracks and made the morning even more memorable.
After our time on the beach we headed back to the house where things took a very playful turn. Sarah and Zach grabbed a boogie board climbed up the waterslide and rode down together fully clothed laughing the entire way. It was spontaneous and joyful and completely them.

Of course we could not end the session without heading back to the beach one last time. Shoes came off and they ran straight into the waves letting the ocean soak them as they laughed and splashed and embraced the moment. It was carefree and fun and such a perfect reflection of their connection.
Sessions like this are why I love what I do. Sarah and Zach are kind adventurous and full of joy and I already know their wedding this summer is going to be incredible. I cannot wait to celebrate them again and capture the next chapter of their story.
