There are weddings that feel like pure magic from start to finish—and Blake and Davis’s October celebration was absolutely one of them. From the golden light to the stunning scenery to the energy that never let up, their day was the perfect reflection of who they are: full of life, love, and joy.
They were married on Davis’s parents’ property, tucked away in the Lowcountry, where a wide open field and a centuries-old live oak tree set the stage for something truly special. It was one of those classic South Carolina fall days—crisp air, golden sunlight, and trees just beginning to turn with the season. The entire property felt like a dream, and it was such an honor to capture every bit of it.
The morning started slow and sweet. Blake got ready in a cozy cottage on the property with her girls by her side. There was music playing, laughter echoing down the hallway, and that soft nervous excitement that always fills the air before a first look. Meanwhile, Davis and his groomsmen rolled in a bit later—easygoing and full of jokes, but you could tell Davis had one thing on his mind: seeing Blake.
Their first look took place beneath a quiet row of trees, and it was everything—tender, emotional, and full of genuine joy. Afterward, we wandered the property for portraits, soaking up the fall color and golden light. These two were so natural together—whether wrapped in an embrace or laughing in a field, they made my job incredibly easy.
One of the most fun moments before the ceremony was when the entire wedding party gathered to dig up the bourbon. If you’re not familiar, it’s a Southern tradition where you bury a full bottle of bourbon at the ceremony site exactly one month before the big day—said to keep the rain away. And wouldn’t you know it? The skies were clear, the sun was glowing, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. We’ll call it a win.
As guests arrived and found their seats, the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting the most beautiful golden hue through the branches of the massive oak tree where the ceremony would take place. It was breathtaking. Blake walked down the aisle with the sun glowing through her veil and catching on the leaves above. The ceremony was heartfelt and personal, with just the right mix of laughter and tears. Every element—from the words spoken to the natural beauty around them—felt meaningful and deeply rooted.
After the “I do’s,” the celebration truly began. And let me just say… this group knew how to party. The reception tent was full of vibrant fall florals, flickering candlelight, and long tables filled with friends and family who clearly adore Blake and Davis. From their first dance to the late-night dance floor chaos, the energy never let up. The band brought the house down, drinks were flowing, and there wasn’t a moment when the dance floor wasn’t packed. At one point, shoes were off, hair was down, and everyone was singing at the top of their lungs. It was electric.
From start to finish, Blake and Davis’s wedding was a joy to be part of. Every detail was thoughtful, every moment was heartfelt, and the entire day felt like a celebration not just of two people coming together, but of the life and community they’ve built around them.
Blake and Davis, thank you for trusting me with this beautiful day. I loved every single minute.
